Marvel’s Starfleet Academy ended after 19 issues, and this volume collects the final three, written by Chris Cooper. The series concluded on a cliffhanger due to Marvel’s abrupt license loss, but Cooper had planned out another 10 chapters-and what he had in mind sounds like it would have been intriguing. Thankfully, the writer graciously provided a detailed outline of those 10 plots, resolving several dangling threads, and this volume presents that document as a special bonus.

Also collected in this edition are a pair of Marvel one-shots: Cooper’s Telepathy War #1, concluding the company’s franchise-wide crossover, and Mirror Mirror #1 from Tom DeFalco, which revisits the darker alternate universe from “Mirror, Mirror.” This one-shot picks up after that episode, with the other Jim Kirk returning to the ISS Enterprise — and bearded Spock — to find his situation has significantly changed.
