I love overlapping real astronomy with Star Trek’s fictional spacescape — and have for years, as your Treklanders know! I also love this virtual world — have you heard about it? —that Rod Roddenberry and…

Roundtable: Strange New Worlds – a look back
That was the motto of the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds anthologies published by Pocket Books for ten consecutive years between 1998 and 2007. The publisher held an annual writing contest, inviting any fan with less than three professionally-published writing credits to send in Trek stories, and launched several careers in the process. Now, two […]
In Praise of Expanded Universes
Why tie-in novels of sci-fi/fantasy/otherwise fictional universes are valuable.
How one of the first Star Trek novels was written
Vonda McIntyre wrote one of the first and most beloved Star Trek novels, The Entropy Effect. Here she tells the story of how she got the gig, and how the Star Trek book series started.
Expanded Universe: Star Trek
The first original Star Trek tie-in novel.
Christopher L. Bennett’s Author Annotations for “Star Trek: The Original Series: The Captain’s Oath” have been released
Since Star Trek: The Original Series — The Captain’s Oath has been out for a couple of weeks now, and since the folks on the podcast I linked to yesterday expressed the hope that my annotations for the novel would be up soon, I’ve now gone ahead and posted them. As usual, I don’t want […]

A California park will be renamed in LeVar Burton’s honor. Sacramento’s Richfield Park will be rededicated to the former Reading Rainbow host on June 11, reports The Sacramento Bee. Burton was born in Germany and moved to California when he was 3 years old. He attended Christian Brothers High School and went on to attend […]
David Mack Is The Author Guest Of Honor at MidSouthCon 2019
David Mack mentioned that he going to be the Guest of Honor at this year’s MidSouthCon It is my pleasure to share the news that I will be the Author Guest of Honor of MidSouthCon 38, taking place March 20–22, 2020, in Memphis, TN. This marks the first time that I have ever been afforded the title of […]
Where no (wo)man will go again?
It’s fitting. Women were the driving force behind the petitions to keep Star Trek on the air. This was originally written back in 2017, but still seems somewhat relevant.
Eaglemoss I.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, with words by Dayton Ward!
Though most of my writing is found in novels or short stories, I occasionally get the opportunity to step outside my wheelhouse and try something new. First it was magazine articles (often working with Kevin) and website content or essays about various pop culture topics (ditto). Then came really fun projects like the Vulcan and… […]
The Literary Lair: Star Trek: Home Fires
The “long awaited” look at Star Trek: Corps of Engineers!
Hooray for Licensed Fiction! Part Deux — Yet Still More Star Trek Discovery Stories to Tide You Over until Season 3
While CBS has not announced when season three of Star Trek Discovery will launch on their All-Access platform, we do know, at the very least, that there will be more Star Trek before that, as there… A great look at the expanded universe by Trek author Keith R.A. DeCandido.
STAR TREK: THE CAPTAIN’S OATH has arrived!
When I headed out to do my laundry this morning, I found a package from Simon & Schuster sitting outside my apartment door. Inside were my author copies of Star Trek: The Original Series — The Captain’s Oath, 15 substantial trade paperbacks. Fantastic looking books, click through to Bennett’s site to read more about the experience […]
“Star Trek: Klingon Empire: A Burning House” Review by Trek Lit Reviews
Trek Lit Reviews has a review up for Keith R.A. DeCandido‘s “Star Trek: Klingon Empire: A Burning House“: After the first three books in the I.K.S. Gorkon series, the entire series was re-branded Klingon Empire. Sadly, it would last only one more book: A Burning House would be the only novel published under the Klingon Empire banner. This is highly unfortunate, both because […]
New Statues of the STAR TREK CATS Crew Coming in 2019
Bring statues of the Original Series STAR TREK CATS crew home this fall. The Star Trek Cats series of books by Jenny Parks was apparently popular enough to do an entire line of statues. Let that sink in. I love how these absolutely bonkers ideas come and take the fandom by storm creating crazy awesome expansions […]
A list of Narrators!
In my constant quest to add content to the site, I’ve finalized on how to properly add audiobook versions. Along with the audio books, there’s an obvious list of people that do the reading. This list is obviously not fully fleshed out, there’s only nine entries right now, but it’ll be added to as I […]

Interview: Rob Caswell on the art of Seekers
Out now are the first two books in the new novel series, Seekers. The books are written by the same team that brought us Vanguard (and indeed it follows on from that series), with novels alternating between David Mack, and Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore. But now there’s another member of the creative team, Rob […]
A New Reviews Page Has Appeared!
I’m happy to report that I’ve added a new page that will show you all the Star Trek reviews from specific review sites. Yay reviews!
