Star Trek: The Official Starships Collection #158 U.S.S. Excelsior Nilo Rodis Concept II

This concept for the U.S.S. Excelsior was an early design produced by Art Director Nilo Rodis for the movie Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. Designed to differentiate itself from the Enterprise, the four-nacelles seen on this early concept ship eventually made their way on-screen in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Nilo Rodis was an extremely, influential design contributor to the Star Trek universe and credited with co-inventing the Excelsior and the Klingon Bird-of-Prey.

Inside the magazine is an in-depth look at one of Nilo Rodis-Jamero’s early concepts for the U.S.S. Excelsior, which he created for Star Trek III: The Search For Spock, plus rare design art of iconic spaceships, planets, props and costumes and take a closer look at the enormous contribution Nilo Rodis-Jamero made to the visual style of the Star Trek universe.
